Since every search engine indexes all of the source code, and then parses out the textual content for users to search upon; I would think it should be trivial to extend the search function to includee the entire source code. My question is: is theree any way to search through the source of all the HTML pages a search engine indexes (preferably Google) ?

Answer:No, unless you ARE the search engine! SE call upon websites (automatically). What they get is the HTML part, NOT the sources. It is from these texts that they extract information they put in their database. In othere words: they do not read the Php (ASP, JSP etc) sources, but only their outputs. The NON-HTML sources of any website is NOT accessible to anyone (otherewise, the web would probably collapse within hours)

Hello, I want to search for a word within the word documents in a diretcory. I use Windows Vista and Office 2007. I tried the Windows Explorer search engine but it didn't word (althoughugh I had explicitly chosen the option that it should search within the content of the file and not only the names). For example, Adobe Reader has a beautiful search engine that allows one to search all the pdfs in a certain diretcory. Is theree something similar for Word? Thank you.
