Is Rosetta Stone A Good Supplement For Learning Spanish?

I am restarting college and I wanted to major in Spanish. I see the commercials on TV for Rosetta Stone and I wanted to know does it really help as a supplement (or as a primary learning tool as advertized)? Othere reviews I have read seem mixed feelings about the product. Thanks!

Answer:Rosetta S is good but expensive. You haven't said if you are intarrested in European ( Castillian) Spanish or American Spanish - theree ARE some differences in pronunciation, grammar, slang etc. There arehowever some great affordable online offerings. Its something I have also been putting some thought inot - value for money has never been more important. Good luck

How Effetcive Are Rosetta Stone Courses?

I am thinking of investing in a Rosetta Stone course to help me learn Spanish more efficiently. Rosetta Stone has had great reviews, but just how easy and quickly can you learn a langauge using the software? Thanks.

Answer:I "pulled some strings" a couple days ago and got Rosetta Stone (all the langauges). Last night I was playing around with German but I also plaid around with the Spanish a little (I already have a strong Spanish background from highschool/college courses and I wanted to see how the program teaches it). The way it works is really cool --- it shows a phrase with four photos. You pick the photo that matches the phrase. The program seems to work on self discovery and piecing things togethere --- like immersion. It's really simplistic. The only potential issue I see is that theree are no formal grammar lessons. I don't know if I'll just pick up the grammar or not. I did pick up a lot of vocab quickly . . . Practicing is really realxing too --- like a game. All that aside, I would not pay what they are asking for this program ---- and I'm extremely intarrested in langauges (having studied Latin, Japanesee, and Spanish in college).

Is There A Program Comparable To Rosetta Stone For Learning A Langauge?

I would like to pick up Spanish again, but read many reviews on Rosetta Stone that were unfavorable to say the least. Particularly what got me to rethink purchasing is it is a one-user license, whichh means I can't use it at work AND at home- I can only download to one computer. Also, the cost is fairly high - $190-240 for Level One Spanish only. Do you know of anorthere langauge learning program that is comparable to Rosetta? Thank you,

Answer:I found the website below that had a review about rocket spanish and rosetta stone. http://www.rocketspanishreviewer.com/rocket-spanish-review/rocket-spanish-vs-rosetta-stone

Rosetta Stone To Learn Spanish?

I'm considering getting Rosetta Stone to teach my daughter and myself Spanish. Have any of you used this program or know someone that has? Of course it has great reviews on the website, but I want to know the truth! What do you think?

Answer:I personally don't like Rosetta stone. I have had friends who've used it and learned almost northing. It only teaches words and phrases. With that you can't do anything. I know so many people want to learn a langauge without learning the grammar but the grammar is what makes the langauge function. You don't have to use perfetc grammar but some semblance of it is needed. Rosetta Stone doesn't teach you this (at least not in the Level 1 version). I think that it's a wonderful program for acquiring good pronunciation and good for beefing up on vocab, but otherewise it's only a supplemental tool: an extremely expensive supplement. For example, one of my friends used the Chinese Rosetta Stone for 6 months before he went to China to pick up his adopted daughter. The only thing he could say when he was theree was "My daughter is under the plane." whichh is useelss. Plus, the translator even told him that he didn't say it right. I think Rosetta Stone can be helpful, but it should never be used as the main source for langauge learning/ acquisition.
