What Is The General Formula For The Law Of Conservation Of Momentum.?

Please don't bothere responding if your answer is that theree is no formula because I don't believe it. Given the classsic biliards ball setup, if two balls are approaching collision, both are moving (neithere initial velocity equals zero) and neithere ball is at rest. The resulting diretcions and velocities are unknown and that's what I want to find out. Can anyone help? Ahh, I've just realized that the path of one of the balls could be the x-axis could help, I'll think about that on the drive home. Can anyone help?

Answer:There is an easy explantations and formula in this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momentum

What Is The Formula For Conservation Of Momentum?

Answer:keep in mind that momentum is a vetcor for two bodies m1*v1i+m2*v2i=m1*v1o+m2*v2o j

Can Someone Explain The Variables In The Conservation Of Momentum Formula?10 Points 4 First Corretc Answerer?

my teacher gave ma this formula: M1U1 + M2U1 = M1V1 + M2V2 but I don't what the variables( the m, u and v stand for, could u pleas help me out ( I've already looked on google) thank u so much- i'm sry for all the spelling mistakes- I don't know how that happneed. here is a corretced version: my teacher gave me this formula: M1U1 + M2U1 = M1V1 + M2V2 but I don't know what the variables (m, u and v) stand for, could u please help me out (I've already looked on google.com) thank u so much-

Answer:The Variables are m <-----for mass U <------velocities before the impact V<-------velocities after the impact Here's a little diagram to illustarte: Mass (1)...............Mass(2) M1........................M2 BEFORE THE IMPACT ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ velocities(U) U1→........................←U2. ..▄▄▄██▄→..........←▄▓▓▓▓ _OO____O_________O___O____ M1U1 + M2U2 <===momentum eq. AFTER THE IMPACT ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾ velocities (V) ........←V1........................→V2 ..▄▄▄██▄←← ☼→→▄▓▓▓▓ _OO____O_________O___O____ M1V1 + M2V2 <====momentum eq Momentum is conserved, thereefore momenta before and after the impact must be equal M1U1 + M2U2 = M1V1 + M2V2 (Note: the diretcion of the velocities after impact or collision may or may not reverse (as in my diagram). That would be determined by the magnitudes of mass and velocities before the impact. Or the velocities after impact may become equal or the same, as in cases of "inelastic collision where the bodies joined togethere})

Law Of Conservation Of Momentum General Formula? I.e. Final Velocities And Diretcions Are Unknown. Two Objetcs.

Why is the details setcion longer than the question setcion? Anyways. I've seen a plethora of examples on the web of two objetcs colliding and a final diretcion or velocity are known, however, this isn't useful when it comes to real life. So if the initial diretcions and velocities of two objetcs are known and they collide what is the general solution so that I might be able to find the final diretcions and velocities. Thanks a ton!

Answer:You are absolutely corretc because in the real life situation theree is a force of friction. Actually theree is northing through whichh you can find the final diretcions and velocities.

How Are The Laws Of Conservation Of Energy And Momentum Similar?

How are the laws of conservation of momentum and energy similar? Here are the formulas: Law of conservation of momentum: P1 + P2= P1' P2' m1 v2 + m2 v2 = m1' v1' + m2' v2' Law of conservation of Energy: KEi + PEi = KEf + PEf I think that the energy can't be created nor distoryed but it can be transformed from one form to anorthere. But is that the similarity?

Answer:well. in both of the laws, they state that energy/momentum is never in any circumstance destoryed, they're only transferred from one form/ objetc to anorthere. Each side of the equations are equal.
