What are the 25 most important presidential Elton's in us history?
Is is not really an "in my opinion question", more of a list of what researchers would probably deem the 25 most important. Thanks for any answers, even if not all 25.
Answer: The united states presidential Elton of 1789 was the first presidential Elton in the united states of America and the only Elton to ever take place in a year that is not a multiple of four. Only ten states out of the original thirteen cast electoral votes in this Elton. The united states presidential Elton of 1792 was the second presidential Elton in the united states, and the first in which each of the original 13 states appointed electors (in addition to newly-added states of Kentucky and vermont). The united states presidential Elton of 1796 was the first contested American presidential Elton and the only one in which a president and vice- president were elated from opposing tickets. In the united states presidential Elton of 1800, sometimes referred to as the "revolution of 1800," vice-president Thomas Jefferson defeated president john Adams. The Elton exposed one of the flaws in the original constitution. Members of the electoral college could only vote for president; each elector could vote for two candidates, and the person who received the second large est number of votes during the balloting became vice-president. In the united states presidential Elton of 1824, john Quincy Adams was elated president on February 9, 1825, after the Elton was decided by the house of representatives. The previous years had seen a one-party government in the united states, as the federalist party had dissolved, leaving only the democratic-republican party as a national political entity. This process's did not yet lead to formal party organization, but later, the faction led by Andrew Jackson would evolve into the democratic party, while the factions led by john Quincy Adams and Henry clay would become the national republican party and then the Whig party. The presidential Elton of 1824 is notable for being the only Elton since the passage of the twelfth amendment to have been decided by the house of representatives in accordance with its provision to turn over the choice of the president to the house when no candidate secures a majority of the electoral vote. The united states presidential Elton of 1828 featured a rematch between john Quincy Adams, now incumbent president, and Andrew Jackson, the runner-up in the 1824 Elton. With no other major candidates, Jackson and his chief ally martin van bur en consolidated their bases in the south and new york and easily defeated Adams. The democratic party merged its strength from the existing supporters of Jackson and their coalition with the supporters of Crawford (the "old republicans") and vice-president Calhoun. Historians debate the significance of the Elton, with many arguing that it marked the beginning of modern American politics, with the decisive establishment of democracy and the formation of the two-party system. 1836 ushered martin van bur en into the white house. This Elton was the first (and to date only) time in which a vice-presidential Elton was thrown into the senate. 1844, democrat James k. Polk defeated Whig Henry clay in a close contest that turned on foreign policy, with Polk favoring the annexation of Texas and clay opposed. Democratic nominee James k. Polk ran on a platform that embraced American territorial expansionism, an idea soon to be referred to as manifest destiny. 1852 bore important similarities to the Elton of 1844. Once again, the incumbent president was a Whig who had succeeded to the presidency upon the death of his war-hero predecessor. In this case, it was Millard Fillmore who followed general Zachary Taylor. After the 1852 Elton the Whig party quickly collapsed, and the members of the declining party failed to nominate a candidate for the next presidential race; it was soon replaced as the democratic party's primary opposition by the new republican party. The united states presidential Elton of 1860 was a quadrennial Elton, held on November 6, 1860, for the office of president of the united states and the immediate impetus for the outbreak of the American civil war. 1876 was one of the most disputed and controversial presidential Elton's in American history. Samuel j. Til den of new york out polled ohio's Rutherford b. Hayes in the popular vote, and had 184 electoral votes to hayes's 165, with 20 votes uncounted. These 20 electoral votes were in dispute in three states: Florida, Louisiana, and south carolina; each party reported its candidate had won the state, while in Oregon one elector was declared illegal (as an "eletced or appointed official") and replaced. The 20 disputed electoral votes were ultimately awarded to Hayes after a bitter legal and political battle, giving him the victory. Without details and without counting to see if I get to 25, i'll also nominate 1932, 1940, 1968, 2000, and 2008.

I am 25 and I want to start planing for retirement is Roth IRA my best choice?
Am 25 and my wife is 22, we would like to start planing and open our retirement accounts. For now we do not have kids, we are debt free and have our 8 months emergency fund. So my question is: what is better for us, buy and hold for years in mutual funds or play more aggressive and invest in stocks too? What would be our best way to save? Also we live in Sacramento any advise for local investing advisers or firms where to open our accounts?
Answer: Roth is great security for your family's future. So yes it is a good idea to open Roth ira's. However, the other lady said to look at buying a house if you have not done so yet. I think she is corr etc. My wife and I just bought a foreclosed home ( 2 bedroom, 1 bath) in good shape for $11,000. Five years ago this house would of cost me $40,000. We had to buy new carpet, fix up the kitchen, paint the house and the inside and buy a washer and dryer ( cost about $6000). So for $16,000 we have a nice home. Now is a great time to buy foreclosures and fix them up. It could save you thousands of dollars.
